Many stations are producing documentaries about the Beatles this year as it marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Please Please Me. While in the space of 2 hours I cannot possibly cover the entire story of the group, I thought it would be a good idea to look at the impact the Beatles had on the music scene of the 1960’s. From their shows on the BBC in Britain through to the height of their fame in the United States and the rest of the world, we’ll hear about the group and their success. But we’ll also hear from people who were not exactly enamoured by it.

Before I write about this week’s show, because this year marks the 50th anniversary of the release of Please Please Me (as well as other works by the Beatles), there are lots of special rradio programmes about them. While I do not feel that all of their output is to my liking, it would be worth producing a show to mark this anniversary.

Hi everyone

I write this on the day of George Jones’ funeral, he died at the age of 81 last Friday.

On Saturday, at 2 PM Eastern, 7 PM UK, I’ll be paying tribute to the great country legend, George Jones, in a special documentary. As explained last week, I will tell you about his life and you will hear much of his music too. This is a must for country music fans.

Hi Everyone. The first weekend in May is fast approaching, which means that it's the first weekend of the official summer season, in this part of the world anyway. If today is anything to go by, this is certainly true. I spent most of the day walking along the sea front, taking in the summer sun.
